Javier Hinojosa`s statement
Basic Elements is based in one moment of the architectonic concrete construction, in which the concrete and the mold are still working together (The Cast). In this special moment the functionality of the basic elements (The Column, The Beam and The Wall) is dislocated and the elements are not working as they are supposed to be. This project focuses its attention on the possibilities that emerge in this particular moment. Any object has the capacity to transform itself depending of the circumstances and intervene in the process of construction any wooden stick like a broom can became a column, any bucket even a mattress can be useful to hold in balance the external skeleton that holds the fresh concrete architectonic structure.
How capable is the architecture to adapt itself to a different environment and how capable is to use and transform the objects that inhabit it? How these changes affect the architectonic space? And how can they affect us as inhabitants of it?
Javier Hinojosa
Stuttgart, October 2008
