galería parásito/… in collaboration with etc galerie, is pleased to present the first solo exhibition of the artist
Alejandro Cesarco in the Czech Republic. The exhibition features his latest video installation: Everness.
Everness is a film installation made up of 5 chapters: a remake of the very last scene of James Joyce's The Dead, a monologue on the meaning of Tragedy, a breakfast scene, and two songs: one from the Spanish Civil War and another from Brasil's Tropicalia movement. It addresses the revision of public and private history, while tangentially describing ideas typically associated with moments of youth: a first love, the loss of innocence, and a somewhat naive, romantic, yet sincere, political and affective conviction towards the real.*
Alejandro Cesarco was born in 1975 in Montevideo, Uruguay.
He has exhibited in galleries and museums in the United States, Latin America and Europe. His most recent solo exhibitions include Now and Then, Charles H. Scott Gallery, Vancouver, Canada (2009); Once Within A Room, New Langton Arts, San Francisco, CA (2008), Retrospective, (in collaboration with John Baldessari), Murray Guy, New York (2007); Some Recent Examples, Murray Guy, New York (2006); and Margeurite Duras’ India Song, Art in General, New York (2006). These exhibitions addressed, through different formats and strategies, his recurrent interests in repetition, narrative, and the practices of reading and translating. He has curated exhibitions in the U.S., Uruguay, Argentina and most recently a project for the 6th Mercosur Biennial (2007), Porto Alegre, Brazil. He is the editor of Between Artists, an ongoing series of conversation-based books published by A.R.T. Press, New York. He lives and works in New York.

galería parasito/… is a non-profit organization founded in the Czech Republic in October 2007. Its main objective is to overcome all of the difficulties associated with having a physical gallery location (primarily financial).
As a parasite, it survives and benefits from a close relationship with the host: another gallery. The absence of a specific space provides us mobility and the possibility of mutating according to the host gallery. The mission of galería parásito/… is to create a platform for the cultural exchange and networking between Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe.
galería parásito/… members are Silvina Arismendi, Tomáš Džadoň and Blanka Prochazková.
